Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy is establishing a massive conveyor component factory to South-America. The factory should be up and running in during the summer. The new thing with the factory is the production line, which bases on laser technology. The co-operation between Sandvik and Laserplus Oy started a couple of years ago at the Subcontracting fair in Tampere. At that time Sandvik was thinking about a differentiation method for the South-American markets. According to Asko Kankaanpää the new technology enables an advanced production line and products with superior quality compared with competitors.
Laserplus Oy was chosen as Sandvik’s co-operation partner on two principles; as a Finnish company it situated physically close, which enabled a problem free design process. According to Kankaanpää one of the most important things has been the possibility to real time tests. After the design process parts were tested at Laserplus production facilities on how they work and how durable they are in practice. An expert as versatile as Laserplus is hard to find, says Kankaanpää.
